Pat Braxton is the Program Coordinator for the Grandreaders program at Interages. This is a literacy program for second graders designed to increase a child's ability to read, enhance reading skills and encourage a love of reading facilitated by a caring and nurturing older adult. Ms. Braxton has 30 years of experience in the Federal Government. Most of the experience was as a paralegal specialist in the General Counsel’s Office specializing in Medicare/Medicaid fraud and patents. Since her retirement from the Federal Government, she has worked as a counselor at St. Ann’s Infant and Maternity Home, as a caseworker for Maryland Department of Social Services, and as an administrative assistant to a Vice President at the Children’s Defense Fund. She has, also, enjoyed volunteering in community outreach programs in tutoring and mentoring children. Ms. Braxton co-established a tutorial program in reading and math at her church for elementary and middle school children. Presently, she is the director of her church’s Sunday school, responsible for the recruiting and training of teachers, selection of curriculum, and overall weekly functions of the program. Ms. Braxton earned both her BA in Human Relations and Masters in Community Counseling from Trinity University in Washington, DC.
